Distance Learning

Distance Learning Program

This program will allow students to remain registered at the Lycée while receiving core course instruction through a format of synchronous and asynchronous online instruction, and independent work. Based on our successful spring program implemented in March, this Fall version will be more streamlined since our resources are focused on in-class learning to ensure the quality of our daily teaching is not affected.

Students who are temporarily unable to attend school during the semester for medical reasons will also be able to participate in this program during their time at home. This will allow students who are sick, or otherwise required to isolate, to continue their studies. These students are expected to return to in-person class upon recovery or release from isolation.

Program Updates

After assessing our first two weeks of Distance Learning (DL), we are finalizing the program and would like to announce the following changes for students who have symptoms or need to isolate for a short period of time (up to 14 days). Students who enrolled into the full-time (long-term) DL program in August will continue with the program currently in place.

In Elementary:
During the first three days of absence, students will receive the regular homework and parents can contact the teachers by email as usual, if needed. Students who need to isolate for a longer period of time will be able to access specific activities on Seesaw after the third day, and may be invited for an online Hangouts meeting, as deemed necessary by their teachers.

In Secondary:
Students who isolate for a short period of time will receive the regular homework (via Pronote) and can contact the teachers by email or chat if needed. They will also have access to streaming sessions and activities on Google classroom. A schedule of streaming sessions will be provided by the teachers on Classroom. They may be invited for an online Hangouts meeting, as deemed necessary by their teachers.

Distance Learning Program

Maternelle does not have an official Distance Learning Program, however, if your child must stay home, teachers will provide some activities to work on.

The Commitment

Parents are advised that this commitment requires significant parent involvement and assistance to ensure the students are acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills. Instruction will be provided through a combination of live-streamed and recorded classes, videos, print materials, and one-on-one Google Meets with teacher(s). Students will be able to access materials posted on Seesaw, Pronote or Google Classroom (depending on their grade level).

Our Distance Learning program will be intensive and demanding of students and teachers. As a result, families will not see a reduction in their annual tuition fees. As the situation is constantly evolving, our Distance Learning program is subject to change at any time. Your child needs to be pre-approved by the administration before starting Distance Learning. We will contact you before school starts to let you know of our decision. If you are selected for the program, additional details will be sent to you.
